CONCEPT
The title sequence uses direct imagery, themes, and motifs from the story as an homage to the original illustrations from Caps For Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina, a book I loved growing up. The approach to the tone is witty and peppy.
STORYBOARD
ADDING MOVEMENT & TEXTURE
The illustrations felt flat, so I implemented a line boil technique that adds random variations to create a sense of movement and texture. Although this was a meticulous process of redrawing each element multiple times, it's rewarding as it gives the animation a dynamic and organic look. The animation combines motion graphics and frame animation.
